Malcolm Palmer is the Managing Partner of Joseph Palmer & Sons and is the great-grandson of the firm’s founder. Prior to joining the family firm, he was Investment Director at Tyndall Investment Management with responsibilities for equity and fixed income portfolios. His extensive experience in investment analysis led to the development of proprietary analytical systems, which the firm uses to manage equity and fixed interest portfolios for direct clients and financial advisers. Malcolm has lectured at numerous Australian Stock  Exchange investor education courses and makes regular presentations on investments, economics and related topics.

He was elected a Member of the Australian Stock Exchange in 1993 and is a member of the Stockbrokers Association of Australia. Malcolm has headed the firm for over 30 years and has more than 35 years’ investment experience. He is accredited as a Responsible Executive and an Authorised Representative and Relevant Provider under the firm’s AFSL.

Allan Furlong

Allan, who has been with Joseph Palmer & Sons for over 20 years, has a long history in the financial services industry. Before joining the firm, he worked for a leading Australian bank, making a name for himself by leading several departments to pursue substantial efficiencies across a wide range of banking activities. Allan interacts directly with all our Authorised Advisers to focus on delivering high levels of service to the firm’s clients, existing and new. The desk team also make investment decisions in respect to our managed funds in regular Desk Meetings. Allan contributes to these meetings which include our Melbourne desk, and leads the debate on changes to the models and formalising the decision-making process for such change.

Maria is accredited as an Authorised Representative under the firm’s AFSL. She is a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance and Economics), Bachelor of Arts (Philosophy) and has a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investments. Maria spent 15 years in global investment banking, stockbroking and relationship management and has been with Joseph Palmer & Sons since 2013. After moving to London for two years she rejoined the firm in 2018. Maria has a keen interest in the share market, particularly international equities and global economic affairs. 

David Greenfield

David joined Joseph Palmer in October 2018, prior to which he was an equities dealer for both Challenger’s Life and Fund Management’s divisions, helping execute for over $7.5b in funds under management. With a B. Comm and nearly 20 years’ experience in finance, including working in both London and as a private client adviser in Switzerland, he has a wealth of knowledge and experience to draw upon. He is the proud father of four young children, and enjoys most sports, especially tennis, soccer, golf, NRL, and badminton. He loves travelling and using weekends to get out of Sydney and explore our beautiful country.

Carl is an independent member, and chairman, of the firm’s Investment Committee.  He is accredited as a Responsible Executive and an Authorised Representative under the firm’s AFSL. Carl holds the qualifications of Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), Master of Engineering Science, Graduate Diplomas in Business Studies, Applied Finance and Financial Planning, and he completed postgraduate studies in Zurich. His experience includes 35 years in senior executive roles in the private sector, managing both public and private companies. Carl has applied this knowledge to funds investment and management and this latter activity dominates his recent career experience. He has been with Joseph Palmer & Sons for five years and has 30 years’ investment experience.
